It must have been at least 9 years ago, maybe longer when I took my first dyeing workshop. I LOVED it! I had so much fun. I love playing with colors! Then I started reading about methods, researched yarn bases, etc.

A little over 5 years ago, we moved into a new house. It was then that I decided I wanted to do more than just play around and dye a few skeins here and there for myself. My husband Randy,  helped set up a dye studio in our attached garage. Soon after, I signed up for a dyeing workshop in Massachusetts. A week long wonderful workshop. I knew I was hooked! So, I needed a name for this business. As I sat on my sofa one day, looking out our window, where 2 rows of pine trees lined the front yard, I said “I’m behind the pines”. That is how Behind the Pines was born.

All of my yarn bases are named after my grandchildren. Christopher, Emma, Serenidy, Lily, Sienna and Bella. I can add 1 more (Adam).

There is one exception, so far. I recently added Addi, named after my sweetheart of a puppy that I loved so much.

Which brings me to now. I decided to move my studio out of my house, which if I may add, had completely taken over my house and life. And decided to set up shop in Pemberville. Along with dyeing, I love to sew. In 2009, I started making project bags named after my Addi.  I also, enjoy working with beads. So, I also started making stitch markers and other knitting and crochet notions. Currently, Behind the Pines is located at 139 East Front Street in Pemberville, Ohio. I LOVE my new space. Along with my dye studio, I have a room for sewing and sitting and 2 rooms for retail space.

Although I have limited store hours, I welcome appointments. I hope to attend more fiber shows and have fun creating beautiful new yarn colors, awesome bags, and useful bling for your knitting and crochet projects.
